Box Office Volunteers

THANKS SO MUCH for letting us know you're interested in volunteering for the playhouse box office!

The box office is where most of our patrons first connect with the magic of our theatre and it's an important part of making sure the show does go on!

It's also a fun place to work and training is provided for everything we do.

We have three types of positions available.

WILL CALL

Description

This is a fun way to spend an hour!

  • You'll be giving out tickets to patrons who've purchased online for that day's performance.
  • You'll greet patrons as they walk up to your counter, ask their name and match it to the tickets already printed out for you to distribute, and invite them to enjoy the show!
Skills
  • No computer skills needed and you won't be handling cash.
  • You'll be working with another volunteer who takes care of all that.
Time Slots During Each Show
Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays Sundays
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm 1 pm to 2 pm

DAYTIME TIX

Description

This is a great position if you like to work alone and stay focused!

  • You'll be sitting in the box office for a couple of hours during the daytime with some foot traffic possible.
  • What you'll mostly be doing is answering the phone as it rings, booking tickets for current and upcoming shows, and checking phone messages and replying to them in a timely fashion.
Skills
  • You'll need to be able to work on your own.
  • Medium computer skills are needed (we use the TIX online system -- training provided)
  • Handle a cash bank of $200.
Time Slots During Each Show
Thursdays and Fridays
2 pm to 4 pm

SHOWTIME TIX

Description

This is our most dynamic volunteer position!

  • You'll be sitting in the box office for a couple of hours before curtain with increasing amounts of foot traffic.
  • The first hour or so of your shift is focused on answering the phone as it rings, printing out tickets for WILL CALL, booking tickets for current and upcoming shows, and checking phone messages and replying to them in a timely fashion.
  • As your shift rounds into the second hour, you'll be doing all of that as well as helping patrons as they are walking into the theatre.
  • That will include selling tickets, answering questions, and supporting the volunteer who's working WILL CALL next to you.
Skills
  • You'll need customer service skills and to be able to work under a bit of pressure (but not much and not for long).
  • Medium computer skills are needed (we use the TIX online system -- training provided)
  • Handle a cash bank of $200.
Time Slots During Each Show
Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays Sundays
5:30 pm to 7:30 pm 12 noon to 2 pm

MORE INFO

  • If you work during any show, you receive one comp ticket for that same play or musical as our thanks for your time.
  • Comps cannot be used for Sunday matinees but you're welcome to use your comp for any of the other performances.
  • For each shift, you're also entitled to a bottle of water from concessions.
  • We schedule for each show a few weeks out.
  • You can work one slot or several as you have time and we have the need.
  • We also understand that not everyone is available for every show.
